The Parent Project: Month 11 – Happy New Year!

It’s approaching 6am and I’ve just got Jack off to sleep again. Going against our own routine and the received wisdom about baby sleep, I let him sleep on me. After all, he has a cold. And I can’t keep lifting him in and out of the cot because I’ve got backache.

The backache is because I’m pregnant again and carrying 2 babies around is taking its toll. This time next month, if all goes as expected, we’ll have another addition to the family. This is not exactly how I thought the scheduling of this particular project would work out, but sometimes you just have to accommodate changes to plan as and when they happen.

So, 2014 will be another year of adjustments and new working arrangements and flexible schedules. And more nappies and less sleep.

Elizabeth Harrin is a Fellow of the Association for Project Management in the UK. She holds degrees from the University of York and Roehampton University, and several project management certifications including APM PMQ.
